Mr. Ram Naresh Yadav was born in Andhipur (Ambari) village of Azamgarh district in Uttar Pradesh, on 1st July 1928, in an ordinary peasant family. He had spent his childhood through farm-barns. His mother, Mrs. Bhagvanti-devi was a religious housewife and father Mr. Gaya Prasadji was a follower of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia. His father was a primary school teacher, who embodied simplicity and honesty. Patriotism, honesty and simplicity of Mr. Yadav, is inherited from his father's preaching. He holds a specific standing in Indian politics. He is a man of action and popular leader. Swadeshi and independence are the ideal of his life. He is popularly known as "Babuji" because of his versatile Oeuvre and personality.
Mr. Ram Naresh Yadav was married to Ms. Anari Devi alias Shanti Devi, daughter of Mr. Rajaram Yadav, resident of village - Karmisirpur (Malipur) District - Ambedkar Nagar (UP), in 1949. He has three sons and five daughters. He had completed his elementary education from the village school and high school education from famous Wesley High School at Azamgarh. Intermediate from DAV College, Varanasi and obtained the degrees of BA, MA and LLB from Kashi Hindu University, Varanasi. The renowned socialist thinker and philosopher Acharya Narendra Dev was Chancellor of Kashi Hindu University. His student life was highly influenced by Gita teachings from Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, Founder and Generator of the University and lectures on Indian philosophy from Dr. Radhakrishnan, the former President of India and former Professor.
Mr. Yadav had served as a successful Lecturer at Chintamani Anglo Bengali Intermediate College in Varanasi for three years, after obtaining postgraduate education. He had also worked as spokesperson at Patti Narendrapur Inter College in Jaunpur for some time. After completing law degree in 1953, he began practicing in Azamgarh and made his mark in his profession and society on the strength of his diligence and honesty.
Mr. Yadav had initiated his political and social life in his school days by joining the socialist movement. He had accompanied Babe Vishram Raiji for long time, who was well known as Gandhi of Azamgarh. Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and Mahatma Gandhi, both are role models for Mr. Yadav.
He was arrested many times under socialist ideology for involvement in movements such as Break caste, Special Occasion Principles, increased canal rates, tax waiver for farmers, similar education, tying limits of income and expenditure, gaining rights for actual tillers of the land, took off the English etc. He was detained during emergency from June 1975 to February 1977 under MISA and DIR in Azamgarh prison and Central Prison Naini Allahabad. In political and social life, he was associated with various parties, organizations and institutions. He had also served as Rajya Sabha member and deputy leader of the parliamentary party. While working as National president of The All India Rajiv Rural Development Forum, All India Khadi and Village Industries Commission Employees Union and coal workers 'organizations Congress, he had fought a long struggle for the welfare of villagers and workers' class. He was also a member of the Executive Council in Banaras Hindu University. He is national president of All India Other Backward Classes (OBC) Railway Employees Federation, manager of Janata Inter College Ambari, Azamgarh (UP), and guardian of several educational institutions And also the chairman of the managing committee of Gandhi Gurukul Inter College in Bhanwarnath, Azamgarh.
Mr. Ram Naresh Yadav was elected as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on June 23, 1977. During his tenure as CM, he had provided most attention towards economic, educational and social upliftment of the backward people and remained dedicated to rural development. He has launched Antyodaya scheme in Uttar Pradesh, in accordance with the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. In the year 1988, Mr. Yadav had become a member of the upper house of parliament, Rajya Sabha, than he had resigned in the Rajya Sabha from deputy leadership, party's General Secretary and other posts on April 12, 1989 and become member of Congress, led by Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Being the first Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on HRD, he had tabled the report in the House to accelerate the growth in the sectors such as health, education and culture. He had also contributed as a member of Hindi language committee, set up under the Central HRD Ministry. As a key member of the Narcotics Committee of Finance Ministry, he took initiatives for prevention of Drug cultivation in Border States. He had also played an important role as a member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee for Securities scam. He has been working as an active member of Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Parliamentary Consultative Committee (Home Dept.) along with Railway and Telephone Consultative Committee. He was also a member of Parliamentary Standing Committee for Agriculture and member of General and Governing body of Indian council of Agricultural Research. He had also significantly contributed to unleash status of Central University to Ambedkar University in Lucknow.
In 1977, Mr. Ram Naresh Yadav had represented from Azamgarh (UP), for the Sixth Lok Sabha. He has been Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from June 23, 1977 to February 15, 1979. He had represented from Nidhouli Kalan (Eta) during 1977 to 1979 in the Assembly and he was MLA from Shikohabad (Firozabad) during 1985 to 1988. He was member of Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh during 1988 to 1994 (excluding approximately three months) and represented from Phulpur (Azamgarh) in the Assembly during 1996 to 2007. He had sworn in as governor of the state on September 8, 2011 at 1:15 PM. At present, Mr. Ram Naresh Yadav is Governor of Madhya Pradesh.
